THE GOOD DIVORCE
One of those terms that at first seems to make no sense, like 'good car accident' or 'good layoff'. Almost no one gets married planning to be divorced later. But, almost half of marriages in this country end in divorce, and many children are born to unmarried parents who never live together, or end up separating.
Parents who will not be living together can make the process less damaging for their children and less stressfull for themselves by not involving the children in the dispute between the parents. Parents should not criticize the other parent in the presence of the children, allow their family members to do so, or discuss disputes with the other parent. Keeping children out of the disagreements between you and the other parent may not make your divorce good, but it will make it much less difficult for you and your children.
Best wishes for the new year.
